Coffee Shop Guide – Bangkok Edition
With more coffee shops than one can count, Bangkok has undoubtedly one of the most thriving coffee scenes at the moment. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, this guide will take you on a tour of the best coffee spots in the city, from cozy, hidden gems to stylish spots, where every cup tells a story.
Sarnies
Originally from Singapore, Sarnies has been raising coffee standards in Bangkok since 2018. If the decadent Western-style brunches (with a hint of Thai cuisine) are a must, the exceptional house roasts are setting the bar high with exquisite single origins. Our go-to? The iced coconut americano. Simply stunning.

Their four locations beautifully grasp the city vibes and our two favorites are no exception. Housed in a quaint, 150 year-old abandoned boat repair shop, the Charoenkrung shop blends historic charm and Old Town chic with a romantic industrial decor, that still holds marks of the past. Sit by the window to enjoy the local scenery or head to the second floor for some peace and quiet, where they also house live music sessions on the weekend.

Set in the Japanese Quarter, Phrom Phong’s modern location reflects the vibrancy of the area, with a fresh and airy design. Super central, it’s a great place to work, grab brunch with friends or simply take the pulse of the city before heading out to your daily aventures. You’re likely to bump into all the digital nomads and coffee lovers in town.
Our top picks: Iced Coconut Americano, Cubano Sandwhich, Chocolate Cake

Piccolo Vicolo
Tucked in one of Bangkok’s charming tiny alleys, Piccolo Vicolo stands tall. Soothing and fresh, the coffee shop is part of a creative community that is home to GalileOasis boutique and contemporary art gallery. This complex is what the Ratchathewi neighborhood is all about: art, community and top notched coffee. Piccolo Vicolo (“small alley” in Italian) has an atmosphere like no other, with antique furnishings and a darken, moody interior, topped with green plants for a tropical feel. The coffee offer is solid, with an array of beans to choose from, while the sweet options displays a great selection of cakes and tarts.

The IconSiam one stuns with impressive dimensions (the largest location in South-Asia!) and an luminous design. Our favorite remains in Phrom Phong’s EmQuarter. Facing the giant wterfall, you can watch baristas roasting beans right in front of you.

CHATA Speciality Coffee
Quintessential of Bangkok’s Chinatown, we love CHATA Speciality Coffee for its historical charm, serenity and location, a short walk away from Yaowarat road. Nestled in a small alley, the café is housed in an old-style building built in 1916. The elegant vintage decor with high ceilings, wooden counter and marble tables, is enhanced by a picturesque garden from which you can peak at Wat Samphanthawong temple. The drinks will satisfy both coffee lovers and the bolder ones with single origin roasts and beverages displaying daring flavours such as matcha, Thai tea, lychee, blue pea flower, berries or pandan.
Perfect for a rendez-vous, a work session or simply to relax while strolling through Chinatown. The café is also attached to the historic Baan 2459 Hotel and its massage school, which we both highly recommend.
