Between azure coast and lost paradise, Koh Chang is home to some of Thailand’s most coveted beaches. Just a six-hour drive from Bangkok, the island is one of the country’s leading sun destinations, and with good reason.

Here’s an overview of its most beautiful seasides.

White Sand Beach

With its desert island-like scenery, White Sand Beach is a Koh Chang essential. Located around 20 minutes from the port and 30 minutes from the center, don’t let the road put you off – it’s well worth the detour.

The two ends of the beach offer very different experiences. The highly developed southern part is accessed from the Kc Resort. White, fine and with a picture-postcard

sea, the beach represents the largest stretch of sand on the island, as well as being very tourist-friendly. Perfect for a lazy vacation in the sun, just the way we like it.

The wilder northern part is reminiscent of the Koh Chang of yesteryear. After a few steep climbs, the entrance to the White Sand Beach Resort marks the entrance from the main road. After a steep ten-minute descent, you’ll come upon a magnificent stretch of white sand, crystal-clear waters and untouched nature, making this one of the island’s most popular beaches. There are a few bungalow-style hotels, as well as modest restaurants from which you can admire the sea with your feet in the sand.

But it’s in the shade of the palm trees that we prefer to stretch out…

Klong Prao Beach

At its best at high tide, Klong Prao Beach is undoubtedly the island’s liveliest beach. It’s perfect for swimming, with good waves, shallow water and an exceptional natural setting for unwinding, as well as being home to some of the island’s trendiest establishments.

These include Sol Beach (@solbeach_kohchang). This trendy beach club offers superb boho-style rooms just a stone’s throw from the beach, as well as an excellent Australian-inspired beachy restaurant. The Marina restaurant (@marinakohchang) welcomes you for lunch and dinner, for a traditional Italian meal. There are plenty of options, with cafés, bars and restaurants to choose from, and you can scour the bay to find what you’re looking for.

Accessible from the main road, it can also be reached by boat from the Klong Prao (Prao canal), from which it takes its name. It also offers one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island, where the sky is transformed into a veritable tableau.

Lonely Beach

The crystal-clear waters of White Sand Beach, the liveliness of Klong Prao Beach and the wildness of Long Beach, Lonely Beach has all the assets of its sister beaches, plus a charm all its own.

By far the most emblematic beach on Koh Chang, in the 90s it was the haunt of backpackers who came for its paradisiacal scenery, contributing greatly to the island’s legend. Although the decades have revitalized the island with a few hotels right on the beach, it has lost none of its superb character. Its palm trees evoke unspoilt nature, while the few shops provide just the right amount of entertainment to keep you from getting bored.

It has everything you need for a perfect beach day: calm, serenity and nature, all just a few minutes from the center of town. Although it has no official entrance, it can be reached via the Siam Beach Resort.

Long Beach

The most beautiful, wildest and most secluded of Koh Chang’s beaches, Long Beach is a pure wonder and a favorite at Édition Voyage.

Located at the southern tip of the island, its idyllic, paradise-like landscape, crystal-clear waters and superb order of palm trees put it in a class of its own. It takes up to a 1 hour-and-a-half drive to reach it, taking us almost all the way around the island, allowing us to discover its coastline and wilder parts.
You’ll be alone, or almost. The beach stretches for around 200 metres and is sublime at both tides, but particularly magnificent at sunset.

The local café, the only business in the area, offers refreshments ranging from fruit shakes to simple, tasty Thai cuisine.
